As a Medora engagement photographer, I love capturing stories that feel true to the couple: natural, relaxed, and deeply personal. Dylan and Callie’s session was one of those perfect days. Full of laughter, horses, and western charm, it was the kind of love that feels effortless.
We photographed their ranch engagement session on family land in Golva, just outside Medora, ND. The rolling pastures, big skies, and soft prairie wind made everything feel timeless and grounded. It was the perfect setting for engagement photos with horses.
From the first frame, this session felt like a dream. The horses stood calm against the vast North Dakota horizon, and Dylan and Callie moved with a quiet ease that comes from growing up in the western lifestyle.
As the light softened, they walked hand in hand through the golden grass, laughing as the wind caught their hair. Their comfort with each other made every photo feel alive. When the sun began to set, the prairie sky turned warm and glowing. It wrapped them in the kind of light that only happens out here. As a result, every image tells a story of love rooted in patience, partnership, and place.
Western engagement sessions always hit differently. They capture more than just two people in love. Instead, they reflect a way of life. The early mornings, the quiet rides, and the rhythm of ranch life all create a deeper connection.
As a photographer, I’m drawn to those honest, unpolished moments. For instance, a shared laugh by the barn, a slow walk across the pasture, or a soft moment on horseback. These are the photos that matter most. Because of that, they show real emotion, real love, and real life.
